2013 was a exceptional year for new music! With so many fantastic releases this year, it was tough to put this list together. But nonetheless, here they are...my top 10 favorite albums of 2013! Happy Holidays!
#10 Dream Theater – Dream Theater
Dream Theater has always been one of my favorite bands but I
have to admit not much from their past few releases has really captured my
attention and this release is no exception.
Technical tunes, talented musicians, good music, yes. Memorable? Not exactly. But I still love the band and it is my list,
so on it they shall go.
#9 Temper Temper –
Bullet For My Valentine
Ahh, this is a great angry album. This is the one that goes on when the mood is
dark, especially the title track, Temper Temper! And I should mention that they put on a great, high-energy show (see photos) that will surely get your fists in the air or body surfing on the crowd - if you are into that sort of thing. :)
#8 No More Hell To
Pay – Stryper
Michael Sweet still has the pipes and Stryper still has the
skills to produce a great rock tune. I admire that they stay true to their Christian roots after all these years.
What? Why the heck is
this here?! It’s not rock! Well what can
I say? As much as I love me some rock ‘n roll, I also enjoy mellowing out to
music as well and Dido is my go-to girl for that! And this release is no exception and deserves
to be on my top 10 list!
#6 Between Here And
Lost – Love And Death
Love and Death is a band that I saw live first then
listened to recorded. These
guys put on
a fantastic live show (see photos) and that same energy shines through on this
album. Oh, and if I were listing my favorite videos of the year Meltdown by Love and Death would definitely be on the top of that chart!
#5 Save Rock And Roll
– Fall Out Boy
An awesome comeback album for these guys! Thank you Fall Out Boy for bring rock back to
pop radio! (and TV commercials, sporting events, etc…)
#4 Fashionably Late –
Falling In Reverse
A fun fusion of pop, rock, metal and rap. These super catchy, tongue-in-cheek tunes will be stuck
in your head all day. Love it! I had the pleasure of photographing the Falling In Reverse acoustic show this year, be sure to check out the photos!
#3 Peachtree Battle –
Butch Walker
This short and sweet gem by Butch Walker is great for
singing along to. But it's even more fun to belt it out with Butch at one of his concerts as he puts on one helluva show! (see live photos)
#2 Feel – Sleeping
With Sirens
I wasn’t familiar with Sleeping With Sirens until seeing
them and photographing them live (see photos) at Vans Warped this summer. I
picked up this release after seeing them and fell in love with it from start to
finish. Now I’m just waiting for them to
come back because now I know the words to their songs!
#1 Wretched And
Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones Ultimate Edition – Black Veil Brides
Black Veil Brides quickly became one of my favorite bands after seeing
them live (see photos) for the first time in January 2013. To me, they are the total
package with their theatrical stage presence and solid rock tunes. What's not to love about BVB? I really got into this album the first
time it was released in January
but l adored it even more when the Ultimate Edition came out with 3
additional
killer songs added to the track list!
